    The PMP20289 was built and tested to verify the performance of a high frequency (>400kHz nominal switching frequency) LLC series resonant converter (LLC-SRC) implemented with Texas Instrument’s high voltage GaN FETs under nominal (390V to 12V) voltage conversion. The digital controller UCD3138A is used along with the UCD7138 SR controller to optimize LLC-SRC efficiency. TI’s high voltage direct drive GaNFET LMG3410 is used to enable fast switching and be able to minimize dead-time between half-bridge switches. The test results show that 96.8% peak efficiency is achieved at 24A load and 96.3% efficiency is achieved at 42A full load with a switching frequency over 350kHz in a 390V to 12V conversion.

The inductance shift is caused by eddy currents generated in the target due to the magnetic field of the sensor.     The PMP9496  reference design is a conducted EMI-optimized (CISPR 25 Class 5) 10 W design for  efficient automotive USB charger application utilizing the LM53603 regulator IC (2.1MHz fully-integrated synchronous buck for automotive application ) and TPS2549 USB switch(TPS2549-Q1 Automotive USB Charging Port Controller with Integrated Power Switch & Cable Compensation).  The design accepts wide input voltage range of 7Vin to 25Vin and provides the outputs of 5V@2.1A. It features a small size and is an inexpensive and more efficient solution customized for automotive USB charger application. The board dimension of the PMP9496 PCB is 2800mil * 4000mil. Four layer PCB was used for the design.
