  • Isolated Auto-Polarity RS-485 Transceiver Reference Design
    TIDA-00263: This reference design demonstrates an isolated RS-485 bus node with automatic correction of a reversed bus signal polarity caused by cross-wire faults. The design provides transient protection protecting the signal path against ESD, EFT, and surge transients specified in the IEC 61000 family of transient immunity standards. An isolated DC-DC converter provides power supply across the isolation barrier utilizing the push-pull converter principle.

    TIDA-00730: The TIDA-00730 is an reference design examining how to protect an RS-485 bus against leathal transient waveforms such as IEC ESD, IEC EFT, and IEC surge. The reference design shows the level of protection that can be achieved through the implementation of a TVS diode on the bus lines of a standard RS-485 transcever as well as a RS-485 tranceiver with integrated IEC protection.

It supports both BiSS Point-to-Point and BiSS Bus configurations.The building blocks include the power supply for a 5V BiSS encoder – with innovative smart e-Fuse technology - and robust full-duplex RS485 transceivers, including line termination and EMC protection. An auxiliary power supply and logic level interface with adjustable I/O voltage level is provided to connect to subsequent MCUs and MPUs that would run the BiSS (or SSI) Master protocol stack. This design is fully tested to meet EMC immunity requirements for ESD, Fast Transient Burst and Surge according to IEC61800-3.

    TIDA-00731: The TIDA-00731 is a reference design examining how to protect an RS-485 bus against lethal transient waveforms such as IEC ESD, IEC EFT, and IEC surge. The reference design shows the level of protection that can be achieved through the implementation of an external protection scheme on the bus lines of a standard RS-485 transcever as well as a RS-485 tranceiver with integrated IEC protection.
