Reference Designs

  • Single Stage 200W AC-DC LLC Series Resonant Conv for 120VAC & 230VAC Input Reference Design - PMP10283 - TI Tool Folder
PMP10283?SYS-null-null-findchips-refdes-rd-null-wwe: The PMP10283 reference design provides 30V/100W and -30V/100W outputs from AC line voltage to a single LLC resonant converter stage. This design is featured with its low circuit cost and high efficiency (over 90% @ 120VAC full load and ~92% @ 240VAC full load). The power supply has a synchronous buck regulator, LM5017, and a low profile (6mm) transformer. It generates three isolated outputs depending on the transformer selection. The LM5017 is a 100V wide Vin, 600mA synchronous buck regulator. The input voltage range of the design is 18V to 30V, making it suitable for 24V input industrial applications. The Fly-Buck can regulate the secondary side outputs without an opto-coupler or auxillary winding and is capable of achieving good cross regulation within ±5%. With LM5017's constant on-time control, no loop compensation is required, which simplifies the design and helps reduce the external part count and BOM cost.

  • Primary Side Regulated Flyback Reference Design with 120VAC Input and 24V/4A Rated Output - PMP10804 - TI Tool Folder
PMP10804?SYS-null-null-findchips-refdes-rd-null-wwe: This reference design implements the UCC28630 PSR controller in a flyback power supply. The UCC28630 is capable of operating in both Continuous and Discontinuous Conduction Modes which enables high efficiency while reducing inductor size and cost. Safety standards such as EN60950 require that any X-capacitors in EMC filters on the AC side of the bridge rectifier quickly discharge to a safe level when AC is disconnected. Typically, this requirement is achieved by including a resistive discharge element in parallel with the X-capacitor. However, this resistance causes a continuous power dissipation that impacts the standby power performance. In order to reduce standby power and eliminate the standing loss associated with the conventional discharge resistors, the UCC28630 device incorporates active X-capacitor discharge circuitry. In this design, less than 100mW no load power comsumption and over 88% converter efficiency is achieved.
