  • Texas Instruments recommends a compact layout with short traces, and placing the device close to the power stage. Additionally, a solid ground plane and a separate analog ground plane can help reduce noise and EMI. A 4-layer PCB with a dedicated power plane and a dedicated ground plane is also recommended.

  • The recommended value for the VCC bypass capacitor is 1uF to 10uF, with a voltage rating of at least 10V. A higher value can help improve noise immunity, but may increase the startup time. A low-ESR ceramic capacitor is recommended.

  • The maximum allowed voltage on the VCC pin is 15V, but it's recommended to keep it below 12V to ensure reliable operation and to prevent damage to the device.

  • The switching frequency of the UCC38083D can be adjusted by changing the value of the RT resistor connected to the RT pin. A lower value of RT will result in a higher switching frequency, and vice versa.

  • The bootstrap capacitor is used to provide a voltage source for the high-side driver. The recommended value is 10nF to 100nF, with a voltage rating of at least 10V. A higher value can help improve the high-side driver's performance, but may increase the startup time.
