MCR01MRTF1503 Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • ROHM recommends a 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane and a separate power plane for the IC. Keep the input and output traces short and away from noise sources. Use a 10nF decoupling capacitor between VIN and GND, and a 1uF capacitor between VOUT and GND.

  • To ensure stability, use a minimum output capacitance of 1uF with an ESR of 100mΩ or less. Also, make sure the output voltage is within the recommended range (1.5V to 3.3V) and the input voltage is within the recommended range (2.5V to 5.5V).

  • Although the datasheet specifies a maximum input voltage of 5.5V, ROHM recommends limiting the input voltage to 5V to ensure reliable operation and prevent damage to the IC.

  • The MCR01MRTF1503 is rated for operation up to 125°C, but its performance may degrade at high temperatures. ROHM recommends derating the output current and using a heat sink or thermal management system to ensure reliable operation above 85°C.

  • Power dissipation (PD) can be calculated using the formula: PD = (VIN - VOUT) x IOUT + VIN x IQ, where IQ is the quiescent current (typically 1mA). Ensure the calculated PD is within the recommended maximum power dissipation of 1.5W.
