R15P21503D Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • The recommended PCB layout for optimal thermal performance involves placing the module on a multi-layer PCB with a large copper area for heat dissipation. The copper area should be connected to a solid ground plane to ensure good heat conduction.

  • To ensure reliable start-up of the converter, make sure the input voltage is within the specified range, and the input capacitor is properly sized to handle the inrush current. Also, ensure that the output capacitor is properly sized to handle the output voltage ripple.

  • The maximum allowed capacitance on the output is 220uF. Exceeding this value may cause instability or oscillation in the converter.

  • The R15P21503D is rated for operation up to 85°C ambient temperature. However, derating may be necessary for high-temperature applications. Consult the datasheet for derating curves and guidelines.

  • To protect the converter from input voltage transients, use a TVS diode or a voltage clamp circuit at the input to limit the voltage spikes. Additionally, ensure that the input filter capacitors are properly sized to handle the input voltage ripple.
