The datasheet provides a recommended PCB layout for thermal vias and pad sizes. However, for optimal thermal performance, it's recommended to use a 4-layer PCB with a solid ground plane, and to place thermal vias under the IC to dissipate heat efficiently.
To ensure a stable output voltage during startup, it's recommended to add a soft-start circuit to limit the inrush current and prevent voltage overshoot. Additionally, a bulk capacitor at the input can help to reduce voltage droop during startup.
Although the datasheet specifies a maximum input voltage of 15V, it's recommended to derate the input voltage to 13.5V to ensure reliable operation and to prevent damage to the internal components.
While the device is rated for operation up to 125°C, it's essential to consider the junction temperature (Tj) and the power dissipation (PD) when operating in high-temperature environments. Ensure that the device is properly heatsinked, and the power dissipation is within the recommended limits to prevent thermal shutdown.
To adjust the output voltage accurately, use a precision resistor divider network with a tolerance of 1% or better. Additionally, consider using a voltage reference IC to provide a stable voltage source for the resistor divider network.
