80W LED Driver for Smart street lighting using a 6LoWPAN network
This smart lighting architecture solution for outdoor and street lighting applications is based on an 80W high power LED driver with comprehensive power management and wireless connectivity with 6LoWPAN mesh networking. The LED driver supports LED dimming as well as ON/OFF control.
The power conversion stage is a High Power Factor Flyback converter based on the HVLED001A offline LED lighting controller with constant voltage primary-sensing and high power factor, and the highly efficient STP21N90K5 900V MDmesh K5 Power MOSFET.
The features of the LED driver are implemented by the STM32L071KZ microcontroller and the SPSGRFC-868 Sub-1 GHz transceiver module to manage wireless communication along with LED brightness control.
This microcontroller and connectivity module power are supplied by VIPER012LS energy saving fixed frequency high voltage converter.
External control of the lighting node is handled through a data concentrator unit (DCU) gateway based on the STM32F401RE MCU, an SPSGRF-868 module for sub-1GHz communication with the LED driver and a BlueNRG-M0 Bluetooth Low Energy module for Bluetooth communication with a mobile device.
The solution comes with STSW-LLL006FW firmware that enables remote dimming and ON/OFF control of many connected lighting nodes from a single smart device, demonstrating outdoor and street lighting control in a Smart City scenario based on 6LoWPAN wireless mesh networking technology.
An Android Mobile App is used to communicate with the DCU via Bluetooth.
