MCP603-E/P Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  • The maximum power dissipation of the MCP603-E/P is dependent on the package type and ambient temperature. For the PDIP package, it is 720mW at 25°C, and for the SOIC package, it is 590mW at 25°C.

  • To ensure stability in a unity-gain configuration, it is recommended to add a capacitor (typically 10-100nF) between the output and the inverting input to compensate for the internal pole.

  • The recommended input voltage range for the MCP603-E/P is between VDD-1.5V and VSS+1.5V to ensure proper operation and to prevent latch-up.

  • While the MCP603-E/P can be used as a comparator, it is not recommended due to its relatively slow slew rate and limited output current. A dedicated comparator IC would be a better choice for most applications.

  • The MCP603-E/P has internal ESD protection, but it is still recommended to follow proper ESD handling procedures when handling the device, such as using an ESD wrist strap or mat, and storing the device in an anti-static bag or container.
