The PMP5353 reference design provides a non-isolated 3.3V at 40mA and 15V at 2mA from a 120VAC/60Hz input in less than 1 square inch of board space. This design uses the UCC38C44 to control a SEPIC topology. The SEPIC clamping capacitor reduces ringing on the drain of the MOSFET and recaptures leakage energy to improve efficiency. A TPS72901 LDO is used to minimize noise on the 3.3V output.
This automotive reference design has an input voltage range of 16V to 34V and provides an output voltage of 13.2V @ 2.0A. It's using only ceramic capacitors on the output as well as on the input which enables the use for a wide temperature range.

The goal of this reference design is to show the total system performance when using the switched-cap fast charge topology in a smart phone application.
